This is the first time I have cooked a stir fry, and, honestly, I can’t believe how quick and easy it is to do.
One tip: from having done a first one, make sure the noodles don’t stick too much. After boiling them and draining them run some cold water over them – and then, near the end, toss them in the pan with the other ingredients so they soak up the sauce. Delicious!
Another tip: Spinach tends to reduce as do mushrooms, so cooking on lower heats is vital, but it came out with a lovely flavour from the Wagamama sauce and the diced chillies gave it that extra heat – I would have loved to have put the egg on top and next time I may do that.
But for now, if you want some goodness in a bowl – reasonably quick, get cracking on one yourself.
Perfect before or after a few frames on the table.
The SnookerZone Match Night Cookbook will be out soon as we aim to inspire those with a cue, to put their aprons on and try their own recipes at home – it’s fun, and, it’s also educational learning as well – or, maybe the clubs can add to their spicy menus as well…
There are many chicken noodles recipes you can try, and this one is one of many. So, get cooking!

A Bowl of Goodness in 30 mins or less…
Firecracker Chicken Noodles with Spinach, Mushrooms, Diced Green Chillies and a Fried Egg (optional)
When the weather turns colder and the frames run late into the evening, sometimes you want something quick, warming and full of flavour. This Firecracker Chicken Noodle bowl ticks all the boxes.
With tender chicken steaks, egg noodles coated in spicy firecracker sauce, earthy mushrooms and fresh spinach, this dish delivers both comfort and a bit of heat. The finishing touch is a fried egg placed gently on top, with a golden yolk ready to run through the noodles.
The heat in this recipe comes from the excellent Wagamama Firecracker Sauce (80P), which brings a lively chilli kick that pairs beautifully with the savoury chicken and soft noodles.
Best of all, it’s a quick dish that can be made in around 15–30 minutes, making it perfect for a midweek dinner or a satisfying meal after a few frames on the table.

Ingredients (Serves 2)
- 2 chicken breast steaks
- 1 pack egg noodles
- 1–2 tablespoons Wagamama Firecracker Sauce
- 1 handful fresh spinach
- 4–5 mushrooms, sliced
- Cooking oil
- Salt and pepper
Optional:
- Spring onions for garnish
- Fresh chilli for extra heat
- Fried egg
- Onions
Method
1. Cook the noodles
Bring a saucepan of salted water to the boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to the packet instructions (usually around 3–4 minutes). Drain and set aside. Tossing them with a tiny splash of oil helps prevent sticking.
2. Cook the chicken
Heat a frying pan with a little oil. Season the chicken steaks with salt and pepper and cook for about 5–6 minutes on each side, or until golden and cooked through. Remove from the pan and allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before slicing into strips.
3. Prepare the vegetables
In the same pan, add the sliced mushrooms and cook for around 3–4 minutes until lightly browned. Add the spinach and stir for about 30 seconds until it wilts down.
4. Add the noodles and sauce
Add the cooked noodles to the pan along with the Wagamama Firecracker Sauce. Toss everything together so the noodles become evenly coated in the spicy sauce.
5. Return the chicken
Add the sliced chicken back into the pan and stir through the noodles for about 30 seconds to warm everything through.
6. Fry the eggs
In a separate pan, fry the eggs until the whites are set but the yolks remain runny.
7. Serve
Divide the noodles between bowls, place the sliced chicken on top and finish with a fried egg. If you like, garnish with spring onions or sliced chilli.
