IDEAS. ACTION. LEGACY.

A Facebook memory popped up today and it got me thinking…

If you’ve read any of my four books on Amazon, you’ll know that starting is just as important as finishing the race and running it.

Every business starts with an idea.

Not every idea changes the world, but every great business started as one.

To me, business isn’t just about making money.

It’s about solving problems.

It’s about helping people.

If your idea improves one person’s life, you’ve already achieved something worthwhile.

Doesn’t matter what the idea is, if it helps someone, then it’s a winner…

Last year I designed and built the Coin Balance Cue Trainer for snooker players. It started as a simple prototype and developed into a finished training aid designed to help players understand the importance of a smooth, pendulum-like cue action.

It wasn’t created because someone asked me to.

It was created because I believed it could help people.

That’s what entrepreneurship is.

Over the years I’ve learned something important…

Many people never act on their ideas because they’re worried about what others will think.

Don’t.

Every entrepreneur starts somewhere.

Every inventor starts with a blank page.

Every product starts as an idea.

Will every idea succeed?

No.

But every attempt teaches you something, and those lessons are invaluable.

I also believe we should be doing far more to encourage entrepreneurship in this country.

Schools are excellent at teaching many academic subjects, but I’d love to see more emphasis on practical problem-solving, creativity, innovation and building businesses that solve real-world problems.

Young people don’t just need qualifications.

They need confidence to create.

Confidence to build.

Confidence to fail.

And confidence to try again.

That’s where experience begins.

I’ve published four books.

I’ve created products.

I’ve created businesses. Business creation is an ASSET.

Some ideas have worked better than others—but every single one has taught me something I couldn’t have learned by standing still.

I’m still working on new ideas behind the scenes.

Some are for snooker.

Some have nothing to do with snooker at all.

The important thing is this…

Ideas mean nothing without action.

You don’t need permission.

You don’t need perfection.

You just need to start.

Because sometimes…

It only takes one idea to change everything.
