Winter Warmers for Snooker: The Spicy Pulled Pork Fire Bowl in 25 mins…

A Fiery Bowl of Goodness and Heartiness for After a Long Session Anytime of the Year but Great for those Cold Nights…

We’re coming into Spring, but Winter Warmers for Snooker is great for anytime of the year, so here’s another one I’ve rustled up…

There’s something about a cold evening and a long session around the billiard table that makes you crave proper comfort food. Not just a quick sandwich or a packet of crisps, but something warm, filling and packed with flavour and goodness.

I enjoy food with great flavours and a hint of spice and heat.

After a few hours of concentration, tactical battles, and maybe a couple of missed colours along the way, the body wants something hearty. This Pulled Pork Fire Bowl fits the bill perfectly — spicy barbecue pulled pork served on a bed of egg rice and spinach, topped with fresh chillies and a fried egg.

It’s bold, warming, and satisfying — the sort of dish that feels like a reward after a tough night at the table.

In fact, if snooker had its own comfort food for winter league nights, this might be it – along with the Curries I’ve suggested on the Winter Warmers columns as well.

The Pulled Pork Fire Bowl with Egg Rice…

This dish brings together rich pulled pork with the warmth of chilli and the comforting base of egg fried rice. The spinach adds freshness, while the egg on top pulls everything together.

It’s simple to make but packed with flavour.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old rice)
  • 1 cup pulled pork
  • 2–3 tablespoons spicy barbecue sauce
  • A handful of fresh spinach
  • 1 egg
  • 1 fresh chilli, diced
  • 1 tablespoon soy or chilli/Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 spring onion or an onion, chopped (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Heat the pulled pork
Warm the pulled pork in a pan and stir through the spicy barbecue sauce. Let it simmer gently so the sauce coats the meat evenly.
  2. Prepare the egg rice
Heat a little oil in another pan. Add the cooked rice and stir-fry for a few minutes. Push the rice to one side of the pan and crack an egg in. Scramble it lightly and then mix it through the rice.
  3. Add flavour
Stir in the soy sauce and sesame oil. Toss in the spinach and diced chillies and cook briefly until the spinach just begins to wilt.
  4. Assemble the bowl
Spoon the egg rice mixture into a bowl. Top with the pulled pork.
  5. Finish with an egg
Fry another egg and place it on top of the pork. Sprinkle with spring onions or an onion if you like.

The Snooker Twist

Think of this bowl like building a break.

The rice is your solid opening shot, the base that sets everything up.
The pulled pork brings the power, like landing nicely on the black after a long red.
The chillies add the pressure, giving the dish that extra kick when things start heating up.
And the egg on top? That’s the finishing touch — the final colour that clears the table.

Whether you’ve just made a brilliant break or suffered the heartbreak of missing the pink, this bowl will warm you up and get you ready for the next frame.

Because sometimes the best way to recover from a tough night at the table is simple:
good food, good company, and another chance to break off. 🎱🔥
