Good question. In everything we do in life, whether it’s cooking, or learning a new skill, (I am currently learning a small amount of Japanese) or playing sports, the basics are the foundation of everything. If you don’t do the basics and learn them so that they can become auto-pilot, then your game won’t improve.
The only way is to keep doing the basics EVERY TIME YOU PLAY, and playing as many frames as you can – regardless of how many times a week you play, if you can do the basics, then you are on the way to a healthy technique and game in snooker.
And regardless of how many times a week you play this game, the basics are winners.
Every time you go and play frames of snooker – EMPLOY the basics, and you will win – and learn. If you come out of a session and you know you did the basics to the best you could, you’ve won in my book. And you learn. It’s called GROWTH MINDSET.
