EVERY WEEK ON SNOOKERZONE…
I will list A track that has given me pleasure, pain, memories and served to give life meaning. There is a story there in music, and how it affects people’s own lives.
Music can have a great affect on people’s lives and it gives it meaning. Joy. Pain. Trauma. Heartache. And a whole more. You can syncronise music and food together as well, as it happens. The joys of people sharing meals and listening to their favourite tracks.
Like food, music is life.
This is not just about walk on music in snooker. There are loads of tracks I could go through. I won’t be just posting top players and what their walk ons are…Everyone knows most of them. Some are even ones we all love.
I have a walk on in my head. Every one has a track that means something to them. Some even have ten in their heads!
This is about meaning for music. Like I say, LOSE YOURSELF and see if any upcoming tracks mean something to you. Each Wednesday and maybe a Weekend one.
Enjoy.

π΅ This Track is for Those Who Feel the Heat in Competition…Lose Yourself by Eminem…
Episode 1: Lose Yourself β Eminem
“Sometimes one song captures exactly how you feel before a big match.”
Before every player walks into a league match, tournament or final, there’s a moment where everything else fades away. The practice is over. The preparation is done. Now it’s about dealing with the pressure.
For me, Lose Yourself isn’t simply a rap songβit’s about embracing the moment. The film 8 Mile propelled Eminem to fame and he stood out as a white rapper in a black man’s industry. The rap industry is predominantly black rappers with attitude, but Eminem changed that vibe a little with his presence. Of course, the film 8 Mile isn’t just about race – that’s one of the very many themes in the film. It’s more about owning a moment and standing out and shining bright under pressure. One of the reasons why this track gets a mention on SnookerZone. If you read under the comments on Youtube somone wrote that they listen to this all the time because it means something in their own life.
To me…
It reminds me that opportunities don’t wait. Whether it’s a long red to get in, a frame decider, or a chance to win a league title, there comes a point where you’ve got to trust your preparation and commit.
One of the reasons this track has stood the test of time is because its message reaches far beyond music. It speaks to athletes, students, entrepreneurs and anyone who’s faced a moment where everything seems to rest on one opportunity.
“You better lose yourself in the moment, you own it…” Every coach, entrepreneur and business owner will have had this moment of wondering can they kick it?
In snooker, hesitation can cost you.
Confidence doesn’t mean knowing you’ll pot every ball. It means believing in your cue action enough to give yourself the best chance.
That’s what this song reminds me of.
What does this track mean to you?
