Surrey Writer Launches Snooker-Themed “Winter Warmers” Concept Ahead of First Cookbook…

For immediate release…

– Local Surrey writer, snooker aficionado and founder of SnookerZone, Chris Gaynor, has developed a unique food concept combining snooker with simple, hearty recipes, bringing a fresh and creative twist to both the game and the kitchen.

The “Winter Warmers for Snooker” idea centres around a collection of accessible recipes designed to be enjoyed alongside playing or watching snooker. Blending comfort food with a personal, experimental approach, the concept introduces a themed structure inspired by elements of the sport itself.

Dishes are grouped into categories such as “Frame Break Twists” for bold and inventive meals, “Frame Break Curries” for those who enjoy heat and spice, and “Safety Shot Pasta” for simple, reliable options that consistently deliver. The aim is to reflect the mindset of snooker within cooking—balancing risk and reward while encouraging creativity and enjoyment.

Gaynor, who runs SnookerZone as a platform to promote amateur snooker and share insights into the game, said the idea came from a desire to connect the social side of snooker with everyday food.

He said; “It’s not all about what goes on at the table. My aim now with SnookerZone 2.0 is to focus more on the social angles of snooker, and how they can fit into the game. We’ve all seen endless Youtube videos on how to play a shot, or screw the ball back, but people want more than that in the modern UK, they want an experience.”

“Snooker and food might not seem like an obvious combination, but when you’re around the game—whether playing, practising, or watching—food is always part of the experience,” he said. “I wanted to create something that reflects that in a simple and enjoyable fun way.”

“It’s also aimed as an inspiration book to get people interested in not just cooking, but the game itself.”

He added: “Regardless of whether you’re doing something online, or off, people want an experience!”

The concept also embraces a “growth mindset” approach, encouraging people to view each recipe as an opportunity to learn and improve, rather than focusing on perfection.

“Not every dish will go perfectly first time, and that’s fine,” Gaynor added. “It’s about trying things, adjusting, and enjoying the process—very similar to how you improve in snooker.”

The “Winter Warmers for Snooker” project is also forming the basis of a short cookbook currently in development. The book will feature a curated selection of 12 recipes, alongside tips and ideas designed to help readers build confidence in the kitchen while enjoying the experience.

The recipes are available to view on SnookerZone, with additional content and new ideas expected to be added over time as the concept evolves.
