WATCH: Delight for On Yee in 2022 British Open Qualifiers…
THE 31-year-old Hong Kong cueist secured a scalp in British Open qualifiers for next month’s final stages in Milton Keynes…
Ng On Yee claimed a victorious scalp over 1997 World Champion Ken Doherty at the British Open qualifiers.
It went to a final frame thriller with On Yee half-luckily scooping the pink to win the match after Doherty could not clean up the colours.
She said after: “This win is definitely one of the best of my career, against a great player like Ken,” said Ng.
“I have been practicing hard recently with a lot of top players including Marco Fu and I can see an improvement in my game.
“I’m very happy to get my first win of the season.”
Ng, a three-time women’s world champion, played on the World Snooker Tour for the first time last season and secured her first win by beating Wu Yize in Welsh Open qualifying.
As usual though, controversy ensues on Twitter as people question the “fairness” of the system and the fact that the women have a separate tour! …
You make it sound like women have special treatment. If all is right in the world why is global participation male/female 100/1 🤷♀️ I can’t keep having this conversation. The womens game needs help. 2 tour cards/season for WWS is a huge help. Sad that ppl think that’s 2 too many https://t.co/VSDTY6twlM
