He joins Former World Champion Tom Cousins, Frenchman Christophe Lambert, and Stevie Dempsey for a chance to claim the 2022 title.
There will be a slightly different setup at next week’s event, which can be viewed as usual on Freesports 65 in the UK and on the Ultimate Pool website.
There will be two semi-finals with 2 sets.
Luke Gilbert wrote on Facebook after: “Wasn’t to be last night. Played pretty good in 2 matcesh against Shaun and Jake and done enough in both to get wins. Then against Aaron it was just mistake after mistake and anything that could go wrong, did.
He added; “Well played Aaron Davies, the most consistent and steady player on the night, so thoroughly deserved to qualify.
Davies in yesterday’s group beat the likes of Lightning Luke Gilbert, Aussie’s Jake McCartney, who was still feeling the pain of an injured ankle, and halfway through the matches had to put on the famous moon boot.
McCartney was vying to be the only player to have made it through to the final’s night by playing three weeks in a row – despite the ankle.
However, Davies shot off to a great start, beating McCartney in the first match.
In his final match against Shaun Storry, a win or a draw would suffice for him to book a place in the final four of the competition next week.
Shaun Storry was the actual favorite of the group as the No 2 seed in the group but with the last few weeks, the format has been anyone’s to win.
Davies made the final four last year so has another chance this year of going one better.
The weekend in Blackpool sees the resumption of the Ultimate Pool Series of events for the professionals, the women, and the Challenger Series.
