GARY TAYLOR has been making Taylor Made products for over 30 years.

Recently, SnookerZone came across Taylor Made tips from Marc Lockley at SnookerCrazy and decided to purchase a pack, (very inexpensive) under £10 for three hard tips.

We took one for a test drive last weekend, and this was our verdict.

SnookerZone likes playing with a medium to hard type tip so we decided to order the hards.

Now, as you may well know, SnookerZone has reviewed many tips since our three years in operation.

We’ve reviewed a wide variety of softs, hards, mediums, and extra hards.

SNOOKERZONE’S FIVE TESTS FOR CHOOSING A GOOD TIP…

HOW DID THE TAYLOR MADE DO IN THE TRIMMING AND SHAPING PROCESS? DOES IT KEEP ITS SHAPE?

When SnookerZone put on the Taylor Made hard, we were very impressed with the way the tip held its shape during the trimming process.

Some tips, can frankly be a nightmare in the trimming and shaping process, but this tip wasn’t. It held well and came up well in the burnishing process.

2) DOES CHALK SPREAD WELL ON IT?

We’re going to be reviewing the new CENTURY CHALK soon on this site, but for this tip, we spread some TAOM PYRO on and it held well with the blue PYRO. Not much of the chalk dust was lost so we are happy that these tips hold chalk well.

3) HOW RESPONSIVE ARE THE TAYLOR MADES?

In the past, two of our favourite tips are the G5 from Century, and the Regency Pro tips. We do of course have others, but in terms of these Taylor Mades, they are well up there with the G5 and Regency’s. And like the Regency’s, they are very affordable. In terms of responsiveness, they produced well with deep screw shots and were very responsive on a thicker type club cloth that SnookerZone plays on at WOKING.

If you’re looking for a quality hard tip at an affordable price, the Taylor Mades are a good choice.

4) HOW LONG WILL THE TAYLOR MADES LAST?

Provided you look after and burnish well, I can see the hard versions of these lasting for a while, so these tips are very durable and certainly will not lose their shape quickly. SOME DO!
