Snooker Stars to Star in New 2022 Pairs Cup…

MARK SELBY and GARETH POTTS will return for the second edition of the Eative Ultimate Pool Pairs Cup – it has been confirmed.

Last season’s dynamic duo made quite a splash in the inaugural edition as the four-time World Snooker Champion and his brother-in-law won their first round of matches, ending in a famous and dramatic three-way six-reds shootout.

However, due to personal issues off the table, the pair had to withdraw from the competition in the later rounds to the disappointment of snooker/pool fans.

But they’re back this time around for more thrills and spills in week 9 of the event, sponsored by Eative.

Selby, however, is not the only snooker player who will be looking to make a splash in this edition of the comp as former snooker pro-Jamie Burnett will pair up with fellow Scotsman Scott Gillespie.

Burnett, now 46, was the first player to make a break in snooker over 147, when he made a 148 in the qualifying rounds of the 2004 World Snooker Championship.

Burnett ceased being a pro in 2017 and was a pro from 1992.

The Jester from Leicester Selby, as he is nicknamed in snooker circles, is the only player to have won a World Snooker and World Pool title. He won the World Pool Championship back in 2006.

Once again, the world’s top 8-Ball pool stars will partner up for Pairs Cup glory as 64 two-player teams aim to run the unique 21-week gauntlet.

Shaun Chipperfield & Karl Sutton won the inaugural edition of the Pairs Cup back in January when they ousted Declan Brennan & Ronan McCarthy via a dramatic 6-red shootout in the final.

The duo will begin their title defence against Zac Cooper & Lee Hammersley, Matt Barcock & Wayne Gardner and Andy Barker & Kev Sutton.

The action gets underway on Monday nights, but sadly will not be available on Freesports in the UK.
