Follow Roy as he teaches you an exclusive method to potting balls WITHOUT any use of training aids

Snooker Secrets is the brainchild of retired coach Roy Chisholm, who had a brief encounter with 1980’s star Cliff Thorburn, and this method he teaches in the video and book is unorthodox but ingenious in learning how to pot balls WITHOUT any training aids.

In the book and video, Chisholm gives you some trade secrets of the game you may not think would work, but, having tried them out for myself, some of the methods in the book, REALLY do!

THE SNOOKER APPROACH/WALK-IN

The most important part in playing this great game is the walk-in and approach of the shot. If you practice and implement the technique in this book/video, you will improve. The walk-in is the most important part of the shot and get this right, and you have completed 70% of the shot already!

Crazy, isn’t it!

The other 30% of the shot is down to mental and cueing agility. For this technique that Chisholm coaches in the book and video, you need a good solid cue action! That’s a must!

A TEASER: HOW THE APPROACH LINE POTTING SYSTEM WORKS

Roy Chisholm’s Approach Line Potting System works simply like this:

When a player walks in the traditional way, the player is lined up wrong, according to Chisholm, and, unknowingly, twists their hips and puts themselves off-line by doing this.

Chisholm advises players to twist the other way into the shot, approaching just outside of the cue ball, so that the hips move inwards, rather than outwards. While this may sound unorthodox, as most players line up square on, you do feel as though you are on the point of the line of the shot with this method. This is explained in depth in the book and the supplementary 50-minute video.

When I tried this out over a period of weeks, I made a 51 on the second week of trying it out on the line-up routine. It feels weird at first, but, you must persevere with it, and, really, it’s not that difficult to test out.

WHY DO PEOPLE MISS IN SNOOKER?

The biggest reason why people miss pots is that they are not focused 100% on the pot and are worrying about all other sorts of things.

This book enables you to focus on the WALK-IN and APPROACH, practice it and then you can focus 100% on the pot.

Also, this method gives you some great trade secrets on where to aim the object ball for certain shots and where to aim in relation to the pocket. For me, this book/video has changed my perception on how to play this great game to aim and sight the ball. There’s no harm in testing out different methods like this one and seeing which one fits your style of game. When you watch the game on TV with the top players, you will think now: “I know how he might pot that ball now!”

QUICK TIP:

Test this method out on short pots and practice those until you are comfortable, and you can move on to mid to long-range pots. Don’t run before you can walk!

SNOOKER SECRETS: THE PROS AND CONS

What I really liked about the Snooker Secrets book and the video was how simple the method was to follow. This is not a training aid, but a method – and like all methods, they require practice and challenging work.

THE CONS

Because this is an unorthodox method, which most coaches wouldn’t advise, it’s useful to test it out to see how you see the shot from a unique perspective. In my game now, I don’t stand entirely square on – and my line of sight is not textbook in terms of the right leg on the line of the shot. In fact, my right leg is just outside the line because that’s how I see the shot.
