New for 2023: First Coaching Day at Woking Hailed Success…

An exciting event that landed in Woking at the weekend – a first – was hailed a success – and should be rolled out across the UK.

The under-18- Coaching Day at Woking Snooker Centre in Surrey on Saturday 18th February led by World Professional Billiards Association Coach Kai Michael, and hosted at the Surrey-based club, also had two of women snooker’s brightest stars on cue.

World number six Emma Parker and Woking Snooker Star Jasmine Bolsover, the World number 16 were on cue to help future female talents kick-start their career development in the sport. Activities included six red timed challenges and a 15 red tournament won by Cuestars talent Ellise Scott (right)who scooped the £50 first prize.

All those who took part received prizes as well as signed snooker merchandise from Parker and Bolsover.

Emma Parker’s manager Steve Smith who arranges exhibitions with snooker stars such as Mark Davis and Mark King said that this event should be toured all over the country and cloned in clubs across the UK.

The 58- year-0ld, who played snooker in the Hurst Green District Snooker League says helping talent like Emma Parker means it “allows her more time to practice.”

He said further about the event at Woking: “Really enjoyable and it should be toured across the country.”

Woking Snooker Club Manager Peter Ruddick and his team hope that this event would be “the first of many” as grassroots snooker needs all the help and support it can get from the generosity of members of the public and donations from businesses and private entities.

Jasmine Bolsover and Emma Parker also showcased their snooker in a match to end the day.

Both Bolsover and Parker have appeared on TV with Jasmine appearing in her debut on the Snooker Legends 900 event last year where she was acknowledged as a real future talent by Former World Number Three Neal Foulds.

Emma was famous for appearing in the World Ranking event the Snooker Shootout in 2019 before the pandemic. Parker has also made a ton a 109, with Bolsover racking her first 147 in practice which went viral.

Parker has upcoming exhibitions with two-time ranking event winner Rob Milkins and the 1983 World Champion Cliff Thorburn in the next weeks.
