In 2023: 900 Star Lee Stephens Scoops Seniors Tour 3 at Woking…

A string of 900 stars turned up at Woking over the weekend to play in the Seniors Tour Event 3 as Lee Stephens scooped the title at the Surrey-based club.

It was a tough field with the favorite being the former World Seniors Champion Peter Lines expected to come through and take the title, but Lines, despite his fantastic 147 on day one, fell short on day two and managed the semi-finals.

Wayne Townsend, another recent star of the 90o in Reading, came to Woking and managed a quarter-final.

The 41-year-old Stephens, who played in week five of the 900, as did Woking’s very own MARQUEE STAR Jasmine Bolsover, the World no 14, narrowly defeated 48-year-old Steve Crowley in the final 4 – 3 and took away £300 and points on the list. Crowley’s last appearance at Woking was in the last 16 in the Open Series.

There were five centuries made in total with Lines making the 147, and a 100, Struart Watson, another World Seniors player made two, and the other ton came from Shaun Wilkes.

The highlight of the weekend was, of course, the historic making of two 147s, one made in the Seniors Tour 3, and the other by Byfleet league star Mark Leonard.

The turnout for the event was 38 entries in total and it was a brilliant weekend of tournament snooker at the club.

Congratulations to everyone who competed in the event and to Claudia Ene for the Tournament Directing (pictured with winner Lee Stephens) and Terry T for the social media on @Cue Surrey over the weekend.

SnookerZone was on hand to watch some of the play and also witnessed the two great 147s on Saturday that made history at the club.

A nice little quote as the United Kingdom Championship takes place in York…

Coming up at Woking on the 3rd of December, is the return of the Cuestars under-21 tour.
