Dempsey produced a super time of 20 seconds 28 despite the fact he said he had never practiced the six reds shootout before.
He told Ultimate Pool’s broadcasters Steven Jamieson and Simon Webb he was delighted to get through the evening with his time now being the third quickest in Ultimate Pool history.
His time is sandwiched between Scott Gillespie’s time of 20:36 in the 2022 Grand Slam.
Autopilot Shaun Storry has the quickest time of a sub 20 of 18 seconds 32 in the Pro Series.
It was a blockbuster of an evening as Dempsey came up against the likes of 6-times World Champion Mick Hill and Gareth Potts and Ultimate Pool Challenger Series winner Dan Eaton Lees, who turned pro last year.
Mick Hill had a howler of a first match in which he had potted a red on for clearance and ended up potting the 8 ball into the middle – a 1 in 10 shot!

Potts and Hill met in the last match of the evening and it was Potts who was victorious n the race to 4’s as he forced a six reds shootout between him and Dempsey.
Dempsey said while Potts and Hill were playing he sneaked onto a table to have a practice of the six reds shootout and said he racked a couple of silly times, but said he was trying to open the reds just enough so that he could leave himself simple on a simple first red.
Potts, who was involved in a famous three-way six-reds shootout with his brother-in-law Mark Selby in the Ultimate Pool Pairs Cup last year, the 4-times World Snooker Champion, couldn’t manage to open the reds enough on the six reds shootout and ended up conceding when the time rolled over 22 seconds.
Dempsey joins Christophe Lambert and Tom Cousins into Finals night in a couple of weeks’ time.
