Darts v Snooker in 2024…
WHAT’S HARDER, a 9 Darter or a 147?
This question has been raised so many times over the years and SnookerZone writer/Journalist Chris Gaynor has written about it before elsewhere, but with the growing popularity of Darts, we still believe a 147 in snooker is the toughest.
Actually, Shaun Murphy made a 147 at the Snooker Shootout most recently, (not many could do that…Only Ronnie O’Sullivan is the other person to make a 147 in 5 mins and 8 seconds, originally recorded at 5 mins 20. 320 or 308 seconds divided by 36 pots to get an average shot time for O’Sullivan’s 1997 fastest 147.
Snooker is a tough game at the best of times, but it is an exciting, fun, and great way for family and friends to play anytime. So is Darts.
However, for a very elite player like Ronnie or Shaun Murphy to make a 147 in speedy conditions (O’Sullivan chose to be speedy in his 147 in 1997), I think highlights just how tough snooker is – and how those kinds of feats (I mean making a 147 in speed conditions) will only EVER be achieved by a very small handful of very very very talented players in the game.
Any player who makes a 147, whether it be on a line-up, or in a match, whether it’s under speed conditions or not has achieved a real achievement.
For the rest of us MERE MORTALS and, of course, not all of us have the luxury of accessing a table EVERY SINGLE DAY, and even those who make centuries, #KEEPGOING…
There is also no speed test in Darts.

Snooker Shootouts at grassroots and amateur level, and 900’s are a great way to introduce NEW people to the game.
Snooker player Peter Devlin tweeted something that is spot on…
Luke Littler has gone from 4,000 Instagram followers to 625K in a fortnight
Judd Trump has 235K
Ronnie has 850K
In 2 weeks, Luke is more popular on social media than any snooker player, and soon, will take over Ronnie as well.
I’m jealous of how big darts is getting 😭😭 🎯 haha

Does snooker need to change its IMAGE? We’ve said this time and time again. YES…
Who knows? Maybe the Darts board/s in snooker clubs will become more popular than the snooker tables with Darts comps?
