John Higgins scraped through in a dramatic deciding frame to reach the semi-finals of the 2022 Betfred World Championships on Wednesday.
At 12 – 12, Jack Lisowski had the chance to make a frame and match-winning break but missed a red, before Higgins stepped in and stole the thunder to set up yet another juicy clash with Ronnie O’Sullivan.
The semi-finals will be a mouth-watering prospect on Thursday with ALL three of the Class of 92 of Mark Williams, Ronnie O’Sullivan, and John Higgins all involved, with 2019 World Champion Judd Trump in the draw.
O’Sullivan is two matches away from a record-equalling 7th World title with Stephen Hendry.
With a combined total of 14 world titles between the four semi-finalists, there is surely going to be more drama coming from the place that the three players of 92 have made their spiritual home over the past 25 years or so.
The combined age of Williams, O’Sullivan, and Higgins is a heart-stopping 139.
Williams is the oldest man in the tournament at 47.
The Crucible always delivers the drama…
