2023: Fergal Quinn Scoops Day 2 of the 900…

NORTHERN IRELAND’S talented Fergal Quinn scooped day 2 of Week 8 of the 900 in Tuesday’s thrilling edition.

The 23-year-old recently played in the World Professional event the Championship League and he came through as usual another tough field of entrants in the fast and furious snooker event with those who appeared in Monday’s draw.

Quinn has also appeared in the recent QTour’s and reached the quarter-final of the World Snooker Federation Championship.

He told The Cue View in an interview once that he got into snooker through his dad.

“I first got involved with snooker as an 8-year-old when we moved into our new house and my dad had a snooker table put in. He hadn’t played the game in 15 years or so as he gave up after a 3-2 defeat to Ken Doherty in an open event in Northern Ireland. Had my dad known how successful Ken would go on to be, he would never have quit, as if he had half the success Ken had, he would have had a pretty good career. Lucky enough for me, after the defeat he moved to Australia and met my mum, otherwise I wouldn’t be here today!

His favorite player is Neil Robertson.

Quinn defeated Hayden Staniland in the final of the 900 and goes in brimming with confidence into Wednesday after a fine performance in the final where he made a break of 57 to clinch the victory.

He also knocked in a ton en route to the final.

That means that Quinn, Barry Pinches, Ng On Yee, and Michael Holt now have all made tons in the Snooker Legends 900 season 2. In season 1, there was only  1 century made.

It was not to be for Cuestars founder John Hunter, whom SnookerZone has met a few times at Woking Snooker Centre, who was interviewed by Rachel Casey prior to playing and he said there was a lot of talent in the Under-21s category coming through and that some of the younger ones, who are also good at billiards, were making 80 breaks in play.

Recently, teenage talent Oliver Sykes won the Open Series at Woking with many Cuestars players of all ages in the event including stars of the previous 900 weeks including those on the World Women’s Tour, with Woking’s Jasmine Bolsover, and present at the Woking event was the World Disavility star Dalton Lawrence and also the Byfleet League stars and also ordinary members from the club who all entered the event.

He said that it would be a great experience for them to play in the Junior Snooker Legends 900 tournament that is coming up and thanked Jason Francis for setting the 900 events up.

12 times World Women’s Champion Reanne Evans said that the 900 was a great experience for the junior and younger players to go on TV and showcase what they do as well as get people interested in the game and that “it was only 15 minutes” so it wasn’t long to take the pressure of the TV lights and cameras.

Wednesday will see the final winner of the Week 8 draws and then we will know the final 8 who will be contesting the Grand Finals of the 900 on November 22nd 2023.

Good luck to everyone playing in the Finals day on Wednesday.
