2022 Women’s British Open Returns This Weekend…

BRIEF PREVIEW…

The World Women’s Snooker Tour continues its travels this weekend in Leicester, at its new home The Winchester Snooker Club as the 2022 Women’s British Open will get underway.

Despite the UK still being gripped by a pandemic, the tournament makes a return to the women’s circuit since it was last hosted in 2018 and has been hosted on 26 occasions.

Of course, two of the best women snooker players in Reanne Evans and Ng On Yee are now fully installed on the World Snooker Tour but are still competing on the women’s circuit and gaining even more vital experience on the main tour.

The WWS website reports; As with many events on the circuit, it is world number one Evans who has enjoyed particular success with a record six victories over a 14-year span from 2004-2018. Among her tournament highlights include a career-best break of 140 during her 2009 semi-final victory against June Banks, while in 2018 she achieved the rare feat of scoring two century breaks during a single match to beat Rebecca Kenna en route to the title.

However, the tournament also boasts new and up-and-coming talent such as the likes of 22-year-old Jasmine Bolsover, who practices hard at Woking Snooker Centre in Surrey.

SnookerZone had a brief chat with Jasmine Bolsover on Tuesday at Woking who said she was feeling confident about her game for the event at the weekend and was feeling confident that she could go better than her last 16 place in the previous event in Coulsdon last year at the Eden Women’s Masters which was her first event back since graduating from Oxford Brookes University.

UPDATE: THE DRAW ON FRIDAY…

The draw for the event has been made and Jasmine Bolsover from Woking has been drawn in Group H along with pool player Harriet Haynes – both have been interviewed by SnookerZone.

Good luck to everyone competing in Leicester on the weekend.
